The weather had a lot of the roads closed and he didn’t want to get stuck along the road in his car
My son came home from school and the only thing he asked me for was to have some brownies for him. I wasn’t prepared to have the electricity go out and not have an oven to bake them. I also wasn’t prepared to have the furnace quit working. I worried about what was going to happen when he got home and there wasn’t any power and the house was cold. My husband got home from work and he got the generator running. He told me that we were in for a rough couple of days. The winds were about sixty miles an hour and they were supposed to keep up throughout the entire weekend. He told me he was going for fuel for the generator so we had it running while the power was out. Our generator was made so that it would keep the lights, furnace and refrigerators running. We had all of the necessities, but we had to be careful with how much we used the stove and the television. The television was to only be used for news updates on the weather. I thought that as long as I could cook meals and brownies, and the furnace was working, we would be okay. My son called shortly after my husband got home and he said he wasn’t going to make it home for the weekend. The weather had a lot of the roads closed and he didn’t want to get stuck along the road in his car. It seemed the incoming blizzard was affecting more than just my brownies and the HVAC system.
