They were sort of stunned
There is no way that I have ever been taken seriously in this house. I don’t believe if that is because I tend to keep to myself or because my rare opinion hits deaf ears. Either way, I live here with my folks sort of ignoring me. And I get it. They have certainly difficult tasks with lots of stress and certainly little time off. They consistently looked weary when they get back home. I don’t dare approach them when they are waiting there silently with their feet up taking in the HVAC comfort of our home. My life is sort of a go-along-to-get-along life. This doesn’t bother me all that much considering that I will be headed off to the university in just a few short years. I have an older sibling who told me that is genuinely when my life will become my own. Boy, I hope she isn’t joking. However, something weird happened not too long ago. Both of my folks were engaged in a bit of a heated discussion over the household finances. They definitely weren’t worried with each other but more just worried about daily costs. I heard them say that they were genuinely exhausted of paying so much to cool the condo while in the summer. They felt love they were paying a ton to cool a condo they were only in to eat and sleep. Weekends they were out and about doing many things too. I quietly recommended that they install a smart thermostat and briefly explained the many fiscal advantages of having a single. They were sort of stunned. And then, in unison, they got up and hugged me tightly. I have to say that I was a bit stunned as well.
